Description
UNC Faculty Physicians-Statewide is seeking a Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine physician for a Per Diem position at UNC Health Nash in Rocky Mount, NC.
The clinician will provide inpatient care approximately one week per month, primarily in the Special Care Nursery (SCN) at UNC Health Nash. This level II neonatal intensive care unit serves Rocky Mount, North Carolina and surrounding counties, admitting close to 200 infants per year. UNC Health Nash is affiliated with UNC, a quaternary referral center connected through teleconferencing for consultations and continuing medical education.
The Specialty Care Nursery at Nash UNC Health Care is located within the Women?s Center, a 47,048-square-foot facility opened in May 2016 and designed with input from mother-baby experts, community members, and new parents. The Women?s Center features:
Six labor and delivery suites with private bathrooms
A dedicated cesarean section suite and spacious recovery room
Sixteen mother-baby postpartum rooms with private bathrooms
A large, modern Special Care Nursery
The Specialty Care Unit includes twelve private infant rooms with accommodations for family members, including sleeping space, private bathrooms, and access to hot meals. Family presence and participation are encouraged. The unit provides care for intermediate-level neonates, stable growing premature infants, and readmitted infants under 30 days old. Services include oxygen therapy, continuous monitoring, IV therapy, phototherapy, antibiotics, and OG/NG feedings. Monitoring capabilities include central cardiac/respiratory monitoring, apnea/bradycardia monitoring, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, glucose, and thermoregulation.
The ideal candidate will be board certified in Pediatrics and board certified or board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, with training and experience in clinical neonatology. This per diem role is focused on direct patient care.
Rocky Mount is located in Eastern North Carolina at the intersection of US 64 and I?95, approximately 50 miles from Raleigh and RDU Airport. The region offers a low cost of living and convenient access to beaches (120 miles) and mountain destinations (190 miles). Residents enjoy excellent work-life balance with local access to dining, lakes, parks, trails, performing arts, outdoor concerts, sports complexes, and family-friendly activities. Home to NC Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount is within an hour of NC State University, Duke University, East Carolina University, and UNC?Chapel Hill.

North Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred. Board certified in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
