The registered nurse assumes principle responsibility for total care of assigned clients in the Emergency Department. Â The nurse is responsible for the processes of assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnosis, implementation of care, and evaluation of care. Â The nurse initiates health care training and education to the client/family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Vaughan Regional Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Â The registered nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care. Â The position is accountable for the supervision of other licensed and nonlicensed nursing personnel in the Emergency Department. Â The position requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Â The registered nurse is responsible for providing care to all of the patient population with consideration to age-specificity and diagnosis.

Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Skills Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of hire date
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of hire date
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 6 months of hire date
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) x Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) preferred X De-escalation Training preferred

Required Skills Licenses: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.
