University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes four schools (medicine, nursing, health professions and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities. The Medical School enrolls 230 students per class and 1 in 6 Texas physicians have trained at UTMB. UTMB also provides medical services through our Community Based Clinics (CBC’s) which are located along the I-45 corridor, and south of Houston.
UTMB Health Women’s Health Care Group (WHCG) OBGYN Opportunity: The UTMB Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking an OBGYN physician for UTMB’s Angleton/Lake Jackson Women’s Health Care Group. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing practice consisting of 3 physicians and 1 Advanced Practice Practitioner. The Women’s Health Care Group is an employed, “private practice” model group within UTMB’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Being part of a diverse department with strong sub-specialties including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology and Minimally Invasive Gynecology allows Women’s Health Care Group physicians access to these sub-specialty services, fellowship and resident support, and teaching opportunities. The Women’s Health Care Group Angleton/Lake Jackson practice, operating as an employed physician group with a “private practice” feel rather than a traditional academic practice. The growing group performs approximately 600 deliveries annually. With plenty of room for advancement, this practice provides full-scope Obstetrics and Gynecology services to the area community. There is ample opportunity for personal and career growth, all while practicing and living in one of the most desired locations, just south of downtown Houston.
Responsibilities Include:
Full Scope OBGYN, practicing in Angleton, Lake Jackson, Sweeny, and Clute, Texas.
1:4 call, covering only 1 hospital.
Opportunity for medical student/resident mentoring/instructing.
Highlights Include:
In house anesthesia.
Level 1 Nursery.
Designated Operating Room (OR) time.
1 APP to help support physician.
MFM, UROGYN and MIGS support on Angleton/Lake Jackson campus (GYN ONC available at main campus).
Certified surgical assist for OB and GYN cases.
This is also a clinical Faculty opportunity. Successful applicants will be awarded a without salary academic appointment with clinical academic rank based on qualifications and experience.
Candidate Requirements:
M.D., D.O. from an accredited school.
Board certification or Board eligibility in General OBGYN.
Texas State Medical Licensure.
Income Package:Salary will be extremely competitive and includes a very obtainable RVU bonus program.
