Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a 0.8FTE Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team of 50+ advanced care provider and 15+ physician practice. Provides care to pregnant and birthing individuals throughout the childbearing cycle including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal care. Provides primary health care services from adolescence through menopause including the provision of gynecologic and family planning services, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, health promotion, disease prevention, and individualized wellness education and counseling. Supervises and teaches students and residents in the clinical setting. May perform administrative support functions as required.

Essential Functions:
Evaluates and monitors health condition of patient in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, according to standards of care and current clinical practice guidelines. Refers to specialty services as needed. (15%)
Assesses the health status of patients by performance of medical record review, thorough health history, and physical examination (15%)
Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and provides patient care accordingly (10%)
Admits and discharges patients to and from hospital inpatient care (10%)
Performs gynecologic and obstetrical procedures within scope of expertise including but not limited to provision of long-acting, reversible contraceptives and limited OB ultrasound (10%)
Prescribes medications including controlled substances and contraceptives (10%)
Completes required clinical documentation in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner (10%)
Supports patient autonomy in decision making through education about health condition and treatment options (10%)
Teaches and supervises midwifery, nurse-practitioner, and medical students, and residents in the clinical setting (10%)
Education:
Master's Degree Graduate from an accredited midwife program Require
Licenses:
RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required and
NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Program - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
Knowledge base consistent with core competencies of basic midwifery practice.
Prescribes medications including controlled substances and contraceptives.
Skill translating scientific evidence to clinical practice.
Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies.
Skill in diagnostic and treatment techniques.
Ability to educate other employees, midwifery students, nurse-practitioner students, medical students and residents in the clinical setting.
Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Microsoft Office skills required.
Knowledge of electronic health record systems preferred, specifically EPIC.
