The Clinical Nurse Specialist is accountable for staff functions which enhance the delivery of patient care in accordance with the standards of nursing practice through expert clinical practice, education, research, consultation, and clinical leadership. In collaboration with their unit leadership teams, there is accountability for the delivery of cost-efficient and effective health care in a family centered care environment to improve patient outcomes. The CNS leads and participates in performance improvement initiatives and participates in clinical program development for specific units or a specific patient population.
