The nurse Extern I is an individual currently enrolled in a School of Nursing who has successfully completed the first Clinical Nursing course. When on duty, he/she assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic patient care which is designed to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of the patient. The Nurse Extern 1 may also be cross trained to perform unit Secretary clerical duties. The nurse Extern I may perform nursing practice interventions which have been learned within his/her clinical training and which have been successfully validated by an RN staff member.
Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications
Completion of the first Clinical Nursing course.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
â�¢ CPR Certification (Basic Life Support)
â�¢ Letter of Recommendation from his/her School of Nursing
Minimum Experience: Completion of first Clinical Nursing Course.
