As a Director of clinical services and labor delivery you will be accountable for the operations of the inpatient Labor and Delivery units. Work in collaboration with campus executive leadership, regional director, support services, and medical directors to transform delivery of clinical care for Labor and Delivery. Create an exceptional patient-centered experience by developing a seamless care delivery system and innovative care models to improve quality outcomes, reduce unnecessary clinical variation, and improve coordination across the continuum. Responsible for overseeing services for 7500 births/year and manage up to 140 direct reports. Strong previous RN leadership (larger team) is essential.
Provide direction, leadership, and coordination for delivery and workforce clinical service onsite.
Continually evaluate staffing levels based on patient care needs and acuity, changing health environment, budgetary requirements, and staff competency. Make clinical rounds to evaluate patient care and provide feedback.
Support technology and information systems to enhance the clinical and service needs of customers. Assess local and national trends and makes recommendations for changes in delivery system if needed.
Serve as a coach and mentor to facilitate the success of colleagues and team members. Work with team members to define outcome driven goals and assist them with formulating a plan to achieve those goals.
Ensure that performance improvement is included in each unit’s goals for the year and assists in establishing metrics for each area.
Develop and maintain a balanced scorecard to monitor and measure goals and key performance indicators to achieve the desired goals (improved quality, affordability, caregiver experience, and patient experience.
Establish and maintains visible leadership role in clinical areas.
Oversee budget preparation on the units, responsible for departments’ fiscal management and communicate fiscal expectations for areas of responsibility to managers and works with them to achieve goals.
Articulate the organization’s mission, vision, and values, assisting employees to understand how their jobs contribute to achieving organizational goals.
Collaborate with clinical operations to assure the effective and efficient delivery of services, including patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, quality, workforce planning, and standardization.
Work with physicians to assess and improve clinical outcomes and implement evidence-based practices. Evaluates the performance and quality of care and services provided by staff and physicians.
Required qualifications, skills & Education:
Bachelor's Degree Nursing OR Master's degree if Bachelor's is not in Nursing; OR Master's Degree in Nursing OR MHA, MBA.
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA).
Certification in Nursing Leadership required after two years in position.
Five (5) years progressive management experience in healthcare, preferably with an in-depth knowledge specific to clinical service area.
