Job description

We are looking for an experienced and caring Florida Licensed Midwife and CNM to join our healthcare team. The midwife will be responsible for the physical, mental, and emotional care of their patients during prenatal care and delivery. You will provide well woman, gynecologic, prenatal and postnatal education. This will include managing the patient during the course of the pregnancy and assist patients in their births regardless of setting. You will also ensure the health and well-being of the newborn and mother during delivery. Must be licensed to practice in the state of Florida. We are willing to train the right midwife if she lacks the experience. You will be working alongside an Ob/Gyn and Midwife with over 30 years of experience combined.  The CNM will perform deliveries in the hospital with a back up MD.

Midwife Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform gynecological exams
• Educate patients on health, nutrition, and family planning
• Perform tests to obtain information about patients’ medical conditions
• Counsel expectant mothers on birthing plans, including hospital care, birthing centers, and other options
• Provide emotional care for mothers during birth
• Arrange prenatal planning and care for mothers
• Prepare for birthing by following all health and safety standards
• Coach mother through the birthing process
• Perform deliveries in a home and birth center setting.
• Tend to the health and well-being of both the baby and mother during the process
• Provide care for mothers and newborns after birth
• Weigh and measure newborns
• Monitor the patient’s vital signs and heart rate during birth
• Study patient history and health assessments
• Communicate stages of birth to family members
• Explain and demonstrate breastfeeding techniques
• Monitor patient postpartum and be available for questions or concerns
• Participate in research and further educational opportunities
• Perform CPR or other emergency measures if needed
