Danbury Midwifery Group is seeking a sixth midwife to join our practice. We have provided maternity and gynecologic services to the women of our community in western Connecticut since 1997.
Birthing mothers have the choice of giving birth at either our freestanding birthing center, the Connecticut Childbirth & Women’s Center, or at our nearby affiliated community teaching hospital, Danbury Hospital, where we maintain privileges. Now with over 300 births annually, we continue to grow and prosper. Families travel to us from up to 2 hours away to receive our unique care.
The Connecticut Childbirth & Women’s Center is CABC-accredited and our state’s only freestanding birth center. As a result of our hospital relationship, we are fortunate to have access to specialists in maternal-fetal medicine, oncology, breast surgery, neonatology, radiology, etc. for any needed referrals or consultation. Additionally we are provided with 24/7 obstetrical and gynecologic backup by compassionate, caring physicians.
Our full-scope care includes both low and high-risk obstetrics as well as gynecology care, family planning and contraception, teen and adolescent care, menopausal care and so much more. We are a cohesive group of midwives who look out for each and work well together. We come from many different backgrounds and welcome getting to know our new midwife partner. We share office and call and encourage each other to find ways to contribute to the practice. We are seeking a midwife partner to join us as we look forward to many more years of caring for women and each other.
Danbury is a located within commuting distance of New York City (an hour away by car or train) and within 2.5 hours of Boston. New Haven and Yale University are also within an hour’s drive. The beaches of Long Island Sound, Rhode Island and Cape Cod are close by and skiing in Vermont is also very accessible. Major airports, including LaGuardia and JFK in New York City and Bradley International in Hartford, CT, are all within reasonable driving distance.
Our new midwife partner should be someone who enjoys true midwifery care. Autonomy and the ability to work independently are important as well as the ability to work well with others. Organization and attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and flexibility are required. As an accredited birth center an ability and desire to maintain accreditation and contribute to the accreditation process are mandatory.
Compensation is competitive with salary, bonuses, dental and medical insurance, ability to contribute to a 401K, paid vacation and an annual conference stipend. Our office and call schedule are flexible and geared to a satisfying work/life balance.
We would prefer a seasoned midwife with at least 2-3 years of experience, preferably both in and out of the hospital setting. We would also consider a new graduate midwife with significant labor and delivery nursing background. We will review all candidates.
