The NICU at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital has staff with extensive specialized training and experience to provide stabilizing and life-saving care for sick newborns. Through teamwork and collaboration, we respectfully address the physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of pediatric patients and their families. The NICU is recognized as a Level IV NICU the highest level of intensive care for neonates comprised of 3 units Small Baby, Med/Surg, and Intermediate Care with the opportunities to advance to higher level acuity.
We are a designated March of Dimes NICU Family Support program and have a Neuro NICU with specialized care for babies with neurologic conditions.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioners on Staff 24/7.
NICU- Small Baby Unit
Provides developmentally appropriate care to infants born 22-32 weeks gestation
1-2 patients per RN depending on stability of the baby
RNs must become NRP certified.
This position will be working 72 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. The position is eligible for benefits including loan reimbursement.
Provides care to the very low birth weight infant.
Performs advanced monitoring using current technology
Care of intubated patients
High Frequency ventilation
Central arterial lines/monitoring
Central and other venous lines
2 years of NICU RN experience OR at least 6 months of current employment at UMMCH as a NICU RN
