As a Dental Assistant, there will be exciting opportunities to be a part of the health care transformation. Our Orofacial Pain Clinic is located in the beautiful, new Tower 1 at Banner University Medical Center Tucson, you will work alongside a talented dentist, coordinating dental lab receipts and deliveries, sterilization drop off and pick up, reviewing CT scans determining mandibular joint disorders, as well as utilizing mandibular devices for sleep apnea patients that our own clinic specializes in making!
This position will be working Monday through Friday; 8:00AM-4:30PM. Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for assisting clinicians in providing dental care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience. The position will include clinical examination (including history taking, medication list, other pertinent data collection), documenting and informing the clinician of the findings. Ensures patient comfort during procedures for orofacial pain conditions and dental sleep medicine under the supervision of a Dentist.
CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Maintains basic knowledge of clinical techniques, software applications, or skilled trade. Maintains current knowledge of applicable policies and procedures.
2. Applies detailed instructions and procedures to resolve routine problems. Seeks guidance on solving complex problems. Reviews and analyzes data.
3. Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and is customer service oriented in all contacts with patients, visitors and staff. Responds to standard requests from internal customers. Interacts primarily with department personnel, cross-department personnel, internal customers, patients and physicians.
4. Follows schedule to complete assigned tasks and duties. Performs tasks/projects in a timely manner. Completes work with direct supervision.
5. This position works under the direct supervision of the providers. This position interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with physician's offices in order to report, ask for or clarify information. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Dental Assisting Program.
Current BLS certification is required upon hire. All direct patient care personnel are required to demonstrate competent performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) techniques for adults, children and infants according to the standards of a nationally recognized, standardized, credentialed healthcare provider course every other year.
Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.
Experience with office dental procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
