JOB SUMMARY

The Lactation Consultant RN utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of needs related to breastfeeding and developmental care. The Lactation Consultant RN develops a breastfeeding program to include parent and staff education, updating of protocols, consultation and follow-up. The Lactation Consultant RN prepares an individualized plan of care to assist mothers with breastfeeding providing one-on-one beside consultation and in-hospital follow-up. The Lactation Consultant RN communicates with families and assists them in allaying apprehensions.

The ideal candidate for the Lactation Consultant RN role will be able to evaluate the effects of breastfeeding program and redesign as needed and also, participate in data collection and neonatal outcomes reporting related to breastfeeding.
 
Location/Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Grapevine

Specialty/Department/Practice: Simply Moms / New Family Center

Shift/Schedule: 32 hours/week Full Time Days Tues-Fri 0645-1530

QUALIFICATIONS

- EDUCATION - Associate's required; BSN degree strongly preferred

- MAJOR - Nursing

- EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience

- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
       International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required

       Registered Nurse (RN) required
