Mount Edgecumbe Medical Center (MEMC) is a community, Trauma lV hospital caring for the community on the coastal, island of Sitka (population 8,500) and the patients throughout the Inner Passage of Alaska. MEMC is a medical center of 25 beds with adult, children and infant patients (acute, specialty, primary and behavioral health services). As one of SEARHC's two hospitals, MEMC serves a natural medical hub within the region.

The OB/Labor and Delivery Nurse is a professional working to support individuals of all ages and their families during the ante partum, post partum, laboring stages, newborn baby care and post-surgical C-section care of patients. The OB/L&D Nurse work hours, holidays and weekends with on-call service to emergencies which include trauma and fetal distress, C-sections (including peri-operative nurse care). We seek the calm, team-oriented individual who is able to make sound judgment calls, initiating consultations and recognizing the need for input from other healthcare providers. Also assist in the delegation and supervision of CNAs/Technicians, LPNs, etc., during one's shift. As a staff member of Mount Edgecumbe Medical Center, the RN's workload ebbs and flows--unlike a large, matrixed healthcare provider, MEMC is able to provide a manageable workload and opportunities for RNs to grow and/or explore other RN opportunities
