Charge Nurse - Emergency Department - FT/Days
JOB SUMMARY: This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) a Bachelor's Degree. BSN strongly preferred; B) an active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN); C) Life Support Certifications (see specifics below); D) a minimum of 2 years full time or equivalent nursing experience. Pediatric experience preferred; and E) demonstrated abilities in the areas of critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution, leadership including delegation, collaboration, feedback, effective communication and customer focused service behaviors. Bilingual skills desirable.
Life Support Certifications Required:1) HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days; 2) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 12 months: Emergency; 3) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 12 months: Emergency and PICU
POSITION DETAILS: Full Time, 69 hours per pay period, Day Shift, Must be able to work weekends and holiday rotation.
