Neonatal Nurse Practitioner – UAB Neonatal ICU & Transport Team – PT or FT with Sign-on Bonus

UAB Medicine is seeking a professional Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join a dynamic team of providers who serves our neonatal population in UAB Medicine’s Regional Neonatal ICU (RNICU) and during Critical Care Transport (CCT). This is a shared position with joint duties assigned to both RNICU and CCT with primary assignment being in the RNICU. Priority will be given to Critical Care Transport when the need arises.
Critical Care Transport transports critically ill patients with an NNP/RT team by ground ambulance and fixed wing aircraft to and from UAB Hospital as well as between other hospitals. Patients are also transported to and from Children’s Hospital for tests/procedures and some are transported back to their local hospitals. Most transports are in Alabama and the surrounding states, but include longer-range transports. Transport capabilities include high frequency ventilation, phototherapy, nitric oxide and active cooling.
The NNP assists RN, NNP and physician staff with the care of RNICU patients. Tasks include participating in day shift rounding, performing procedures, entering orders, responding to nursing and physician patient concerns, obtaining consults, assisting with TPNs, interpreting and responding to laboratory and radiologic results, talking to parents, entering medical record notes, and responding to codes.
Master's degree in Nursing. Alabama RN license and APN license; Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification from the National Certification Corporation; BLS, NRP, PALS.
Required: Neonatal NP is required for this role. 3 years neonatal ICU experience; 2 years NNP experience.
