Capital Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Magnet® Nursing team.
Functions as a clinical expert to implement, coordinate and facilitate education within specialty area.
Leads in developing new educational and performance improvement initiatives and policies to improve nursing knowledge and patient care in specific area of expertise.
Ensures quality patient outcomes; supports achievement of hospital and nursing strategic goals; ensures standardization of practices; and identifies and addresses practice issues, staff knowledge/skills deficiencies and opportunities for staff development.
Demonstrates level of expertise as an expert nurse through collaborative activities within and outside Capital Health (CH).
Generates evaluation data for education and staff performance.
Develops and provides educational opportunities that enable healthcare providers to integrate research into practice. Develops education programs incorporating aspects of cultural diversity of population served in a collaborative environment. Participates in developing, updating and maintaining educational materials. Demonstrates effective teaching skills by using a variety of instructional methods/teaching strategies.
Designs educational programs and coordinates and presents programs to healthcare providers. Formulates competencies based on the job functions of healthcare providers. Disseminates information about relevant learning offerings within and outside CH. Assists in updating and monitoring the orientation process. Functions as a nurse advocate and change agent during organizational and committee meetings. Maintains level of expertise by attending continuing education programs in area of specialty.
Participates as an active member of a professional organization.
Analyzes the learning needs of healthcare providers and patients. Evaluates program outcome effectiveness. Evaluates the relevance and appropriateness of educational materials. Develops educational programs and information as needed to meet the determined needs, while ensuring we are adhering to best practice standards.
Evaluates performance improvement and regulatory requirement data. Reports on performance improvement findings. Identifies trends of concern to determine areas of opportunity for improvement.
Assists in the maintenance of records for educational activities. Promotes accuracy and completeness of documentation in the patient medical record. Documents performance improvement, research and regulatory requirement data. Submits required documents with accuracy and in a timely manner.
Assists with the completion of performance appraisals, assesses the achievement of staff competence, and documents the achievement of staff competence. Promotes the professional development of CH employees. Monitors the professional development of healthcare providers.
Oversees and supports perinatal bereavement process and program.
Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with NICU certification. DNP preferred.
Five years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a specialty-related acute care unit.
AHA BLS – Healthcare Provider.
AHA NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation.
NJ Registered Nurse license.
