Westchester Medical Center (WMC) Health Network announces an exceptional opportunity for a recognized leader in pediatric nursing to serve as Vice President, Patient Care Services for Maria Fareri Children's Hospital.
Maria Fareri Children's Hospital (MFCH), a member of the WMC Health Network, is the children's hospital for New York's Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County, Connecticut. This 136-bed advanced pediatrics facility in Valhalla, New York, cares for the region's most seriously ill and injured children, including those in need of cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, hematology and oncology treatments, organ transplants and other specialty pediatric services. MFCH is also home to the area's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Level I pediatric trauma- and burn-care programs and Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Reporting to the Chief Nurse Executive for WMC Health Network, the VP is responsible for planning, organizing, evaluating and directing all aspects of Nursing Services and other designated department functions of MFCH in accordance with, and in support of, the mission, vision and values of the WMC Health Network. In addition to overseeing the nursing and ancillary staff, the VP of Patient Care Services will provide visionary leadership to the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, the Child Life Program and the Family Resource Center. The VP must possess a patient and family centered philosophy of care and be able to operationalize that philosophy in day-to-day work and through policy and procedures.
As part of Westchester Medical Center, an academic health affiliate of New York Medical College, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is also a major teaching facility, with a dedicated staff of more than 150 pediatric specialists involved in research, clinical care and teaching. In addition, nursing academic programs in the region are affiliated with MFCH for clinical placement of their students.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a minimum of five years of progressive administrative or managerial leadership experience in a pediatric hospital or health care system, with responsibility for budget preparation and quality improvement activities. Eligibility for licensure and registration by the New York State Education Department as a Registered Professional Nurse and certification in nursing administration or a pediatric specialty are required. An advanced degree in nursing, nursing administration, health care or business administration is preferred.
