DescriptionThe Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education (CAPE) is an endowed program within the Mary L. Johnson Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Services at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford (LPCH) and a full-service provider of the resources necessary for simulation-based learning in the biomedical sciences and research in areas including but not limited to adult learning, human performance, patient safety, quality of care, efficiency of care delivery and risk management. Stanford University and CAPE are seeking an Neonatal Resuscitation Training and Research Program Manager (Academic Program Professional 2 – 0.70 FTE) to work under the general direction of the CAPE directorship to develop, implement, and administer the vision, strategy, and goals of CAPE as well as an NIH-funded R01 research grant. Duties include: • Develop, implement, administer, and evaluate programs, including outreach to varied stakeholders by: conducting research activities within the program; analyzing data, creating reports, reviewing trends, and making program improvement recommendations. May develop or contribute to outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships, and fundraising/funding. o Evaluate and score video recordings of delivery room resuscitation teams at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH), the primary form of data collection for an ongoing quality improvement project funded by Stanford Risk Management to improve the delivery room care provided to all babies born in LPCH’s Johnson Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Services. o Generate summary reports of delivery room clinical performance scores, review trends in performance, and make recommendations for quality improvement metrics as well as simulation-based training and debriefing. o Participate in the development of a program for the selection and training of a highly skilled delivery room resuscitation team at LPCH. • May teach and/or assist in the teaching and administration of courses. Create and/or advise in the development of curriculum. May advise students and/or coach/mentor clients. o Teach and/or assist in the teaching and administration of simulation instructor programs as part of the research team for an NICHD R01 grant for in situ simulation (PI: Henry Lee, M.D.). o Advise in the development and administration of the curriculum for simulation instructor programs at CAPE that will be administered for the NICHD R01 in situ simulation research grant. o Assist in the teaching and administration of courses for CAPE, including domestic and international simulation instructor programs, neonatal resuscitation training, and obstetric life support training. o Present key content knowledge and lead video debriefings during CAPE training programs • Write and/or edit complex content for proposals, research grants, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities. o Participate in the writing of any manuscripts for submission to the peer-reviewed literature that may result from the Risk Management delivery room resuscitation team project or the NICHD R01 in situ simulation research grant • Contribute to and inform on strategic program/entity planning and related funding and financial sustainability. o Provide recommendations for strategic planning and funding necessary for the implementation of in situ simulation programs and ongoing coaching through the NICHD R01 in situ simulation research grant • Coach and mentor program staff. o Coach and mentor current and future simulation staff in debriefing and curriculum development. * - Other duties may also be assigned Qualifications DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• 5+ years of clinical experience in neonatal intensive care. • 5+ years of experience in simulation-based training and debriefing, including curriculum development. • Master’s degree in medical education. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree and three or more years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): • Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources. • Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization. • Ability to oversee and direct staff. • Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans. • Ability to interact and collaborate successfully with healthcare professionals as well as laypersons • Ability to leverage clinical experience and skills as a simulation-based instructor to define clear and concise learning objectives and design scenarios appropriate for the target learner audience • Ability to leverage clinical experience and neonatal resuscitation to appropriately evaluate the clinical performance of the delivery room resuscitation teams • Proficiency in both Mac and Windows platforms • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Proficiency with B-Line Medical® LiveCapture recording software CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES: • For teaching jobs, advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks. • Occasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds. • Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds. • Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others. • On-campus mobility. • Rarely kneel or crawl. * - Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job.
