Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
In collaboration with physician, serves in an expanded role to assess, diagnose, and treat adult cardiac patients referred to the Cardiology Service Line. Demonstrates autonomy through patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. Orders testing as deemed necessary and remains proficient in interpreting results and prescribing appropriate medication regimen within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner. In collaboration with the cardiologist, manages and assists in the smooth, efficient operations of the inpatient cardiology patient, outpatient cardiology clinic, cardiac labs and outreach cardiology clinics. Communicates appropriately with patients and referring health care providers. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in it's efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Reports to the Cardiology Chief Advanced Practitioner, System Chief Advanced Practitioner Heart Institute and/or Associate Vice President, Cardiovascular Services.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and completion of Master's degree required.
Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
Must be eligible to participate in and/or have completed an approved ACLS program.
Must be currently licensed in BLS.
Extensive cardiac experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
Requires weekend, holiday and potential rotation in the call schedule.
