Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiovascular Services Location: Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA Work Schedule: Rotation Work Type: Full Time JOB SUMMARY: To perform, within the responsibility and in collaboration with the Surgeons diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the Surgeons to extend services in the sphere of decision-making required to establish a diagnosis and to plan and/or provide therapy. Obtains the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan with of the Surgeons physician. Along with the collaboration Surgeons, manage inpatients and outpatients that are referred to and/or admitted to the Thoracic Surgery Service. Communicates with patients, their family members, and referring health care providers. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment.
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Will include some on-call and some weekends. Requires standing for long periods of time, moderate lifting, and ability to work in a team environment. The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification or eligibility and Pennsylvania State licensure. The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
