Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
St. John Providence is seeking an experienced neonatology nurse practitioner to provide continued and ongoing coverage to the neonatal patient population in the inpatient setting. The nurse practitioner under supervision of the neonatologists and in collaboration with pediatric subspecialists will provide coordination of clinical care to the newborns admitted in the newborn intensive care unit, provide delivery room stabilization and accompany the transport team. The neonatal nurse practitioner is an integral member of the clinical team in NICU. The nurse practitioner will also provide care to the newborns in Level II, special care nursery (SCN) setting at other affiliated hospitals in Rochester and Warren locations.
Provides care to the newborns admitted to the inpatient units under supervision and in consultation with neonatologists.
Gathers relevant data from available records, performs assessment of the newborn and formulates plans of care and monitoring.
Orders tests and follows up on the results, performs procedures and documents in the electronic health care record.
Communicates with the subspecialists, nursing staff and ancillary services.
Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources
Counsels and educates families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources
Documents delivery of health care in accordance with specific specialty area standards
Full-time or Part-time: 12-hour shifts distributed across the week. One third of the assignment is for the night shifts.
Contingent: One 12-hour night shift every two pay periods (or a four week continuous period). Additional shifts (days/nights) in the NICU or at the Level II, Special Care Nursery based on availability.
State of Michigan Board of Nursing Nurse Practitioner License
DEA registration, as appropriate by law.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure with the State of Michigan
One or more of the following: Basic Life Support Provider Certification from the American Heart Association ( AHA). American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider from AHA.
