The Nurse Practitioner, as an Advance Practice Nurse (APN), possess expertise in the management of complex responses of individuals, families, and communities to actual or potential health problems. The NP role is multifaceted – NP's serve as direct care providers, consultants, researchers, and educators:
As a Practitioner, s/he models excellence in practice through direct care to selected patients or groups.
As a Consultant, the Nurse Practitioner does problem solving with individuals, families, group agencies, communities, and/or interdisciplinary colleagues (within and outside of the clinical setting).
As an Educator, the Nurse Practitioner supports and participates in learning efforts of clients, staff and students within the clinical setting, area schools and institutions of higher learning.
As a Researcher, the Nurse Practitioner promotes scientific inquiry in clinical practice and uses research process and findings to improve nursing practice.
The Nurse Practitioner takes responsibility for his/her own Professional Development by continuing to improve and augment personal skills and contribute to the health of society.
Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Current NJ licensure as a RN and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner.
Current prescriptive licensure.
3-5 Years of experience in NICU preferred.
