The Quality & Safety Department has combined responsibilities for UCDMC systemwide patient safety and quality excellence, performance improvement, patient experience, outcomes management and reporting. Through close interaction with UCDMC departments, units, clinical departments and providers; these functions promote excellence in patient care, patient safety, patient experience and utilization of clinical resources. Strategic Initiatives and Analytics (SIA) leads and guides the program development, project management, and data analytics needs of the department and Division of Clinical Affairs, as a strong, service-oriented and consultative team, focused on delivering high-quality analytics and program.

This position requires a high level of clinical judgment, creativity, organization, and priority setting. The Quality and Safety Administrative Nurse works closely with the Chief Medical Officer directing the development of selected performance improvement activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes and early identification of patient safety systems issues. In the absence of the department manager, the Administrative Nurse supports and ensures ongoing operations. The Q&S Administrative Nurse provides support for system wide performance improvement through collaboration with personnel and coordination of various projects across the healthcare system. The Q&S Administrative Nurse combines expert clinical knowledge of health care delivery systems with current quality improvement tools and techniques to demonstrate excellence in clinical outcomes at UCDHS.
REQUIRED -At least 2 years recent experience in acute care and/or ICU/inpatient medical-surgical nursing. -BSN required -Possession of valid California RN license. -Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. -Passing of UCDMC Performance Demonstrations, Policy Review and Medication Exam. -Ability to work overtime as necessary. -Outstanding interpersonal skills. -Excellent communication skills to interact with tact and diplomacy with administrative, physicians, and staff at all levels. -Ability to engage in collaborative problem-solving and negotiation with staff and colleagues. -Clinical knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the design and interpretation of clinical outcomes research and reporting projects. -Organization skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, develop and carry out project assignment in an efficient and timely manner
PREFERRED -Quality experience -Database data entry and/or management experience. -Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience. -MSN/NP strongly preferred.
